Leisureplex Hotel of the Year Awards 2021

We are proud to announce the winners of our much celebrated Leisureplex Hotel Awards, following the awards evening which was held last week. The winners of this year’s awards were highly awaited, given these were the first awards since the 2019 season.

These highly coveted awards are judged on the hard work put in by each of our Leisureplex Hotel teams over the past season, including the feedback received from you, our valued guests.

Leisureplex Hotel of the Year

The Hotel of the Year award is based on feedback from questionnaires received from you covering areas including customer service, food quality and housekeeping standards.  We think this makes it all the more special for the winning hotels as we know that you like to be involved in ensuring we provide the best holiday experiences. A big well done to all of this year’s winners…

Winner – 1st Place – Hotel of the Year (Large) – Hydro Hotel, Llandudno

Congratulations to Konstantin, Zoltan, Krasimir and all of the team at the Hydro Hotel. This is a well deserved award for a hotel that has been extremely busy during 2021. After the much awaited refurbishment to the sun lounge and the reception areas, the hotel has followed this up by being extremely strong in every aspect of the guest experience. The team at the hotel strive to be the best at what they do and they really care about making sure all guests have an enjoyable stay at the Hydro Hotel.

Congratulations to Peter and all of the team at the Royal Norfolk Hotel. It’s been a real team effort at the Royal Norfolk in 2021 with many employee owners supporting across other departments. They didn’t just get the job done at the Royal Norfolk though, they exceeded expectations. Huge improvements in food quality scores have added to the hotels other strong areas, meaning the hotel is fully deserving of this years award.

For those of you who stayed at the Hotel De Paris in 2021, this award will not come as a shock. Housekeeping Team – Royal Norfolk Hotel, Bognor Regis

The housekeeping team in Bognor Regis are led by Daiva Morgan, who has been in the Head Housekeeper role for over 17 years and has maintained the highest levels of cleanliness standards throughout her time, managing to keep high guest satisfaction levels. It’s great to see her commitment being recognised and we wish Daiva and her team all the best in 2022.

Rising Star of the Year - Alex Laziea- Imperial Hotel, Ilfracombe

The Rising Star of the Year award is an individual award and recognises the employee owner who has shown the most commitment and improvement during the year. To qualify for the Rising Star, the employee owner has to have been a General Manager for less than two full seasons.

Alex is the General Manager of the Imperial Hotel, Ilfracombe and for those of you who stayed at the Imperial Hotel in 2021 and got to know Alex, you will no doubt agree that Alex deserves this recognition. This award will be celebrated by those guests who know him but also by his colleagues as Alex is a very popular figure within Leisureplex and rightly so!

If it could go wrong last year, it was going to go wrong at the Imperial. From linen shortages, food shortages, beer shortages and team shortages, Alex faced them all and the biggest compliment we can give is that you would hardly have noticed. If he wasn’t washing towels at home, he was at the supermarket buying supplies and if he wasn’t helping the chef’s in the kitchen, he was out serving tables in the restaurant. Alex did it all in 2021.

Alex says that he is now refreshed after his break and ready for the 2022 season but hopes that it’s easier than 2021 – and this is something that we can all certainly agree with. Well done Alex!
