Day 1 - Outward Travel

Day 2 - Harrogate & Ripon

  • The beautiful spa town of Harrogate is famous for its elegant gardens and health-giving waters.
  • The area was voted the happiest place in Britain for two years running.
  • RHS Garden Harlow Carr stand on what was once part of the Forest of Knaresborough, an ancient Royal hunting ground (entry fees apply).
  • Ripon is a beautiful market town that was founded over 1300 years ago and is famous as an old Cathedral City where monasteries have stood since the 7th Century.
  • Home to many historical buildings and museums such as the Cathedral, the Wakeman’s House, Studley Royal, Fountains Abbey and Ripon Spa Gardens (entry fees may apply).
  • The Cathedral allows visitors to soak up the atmosphere and architecture, enjoy special music, explore the ancient crypt or perhaps light a candle in memory of a loved one.

Day 3 - York

  • York's medieval walls were built by Henry III around 1220. Some stretches can be walked on today (steep stairs).
  • York's Minster (entry fee applies) is the largest medieval cathedral in England - it took over 250 years to complete.
  • There are museums of Roman, Viking and medieval history (charges apply), as well as many interesting shops in "The Shambles".

Day 4 - Castle Howard & Helmsley

  • One of Yorkshire’s grandest houses, the construction of Castle Howard took nearly a full century.
  • The grand house was extensively restored following a fire in 1940.
  • The house and its extensive gardens offer many elegant and dramatic scenes to delight the eye.
  • Helmsley is a charming small town with a variety of interesting shops and cafes.
  • The mais sight is the ruined Helmsley Castle and adjoining walled garden (entry fees apply).

Day 5 - Return Travel

Clients are permitted to remain on the coach only when the driver is present. Excursion days may be altered to suit circumstances which arise or to take advantage of forecast changes in the weather, local events or drivers’ hours regulations. If it is important you visit somewhere on a specific day, please check in advance with your driver. This charming Georgian and Victorian building is set within a 240 acre countryside estate and is steeped in heritage. The modern, well equipped accommodation is just a short walk from the main house, and offers 102 comfortable double en-suite bedrooms with views of the garden. The Hawkhills has an enviable reputation for first-class cuisine and outstanding service. The Hawkhills also has an onsite fitness centre, TV lounge with full size snooker table and bar area in the main house.

European Holidays – Join Direct at Dover

If it is more convenient to drive to Dover to join your tour coach, there is FREE PARKING at Dover for the duration of your holiday. This service is available for all Continental Europe tours.

Reliable Coaches

Most of our holidays are operated by our own fleet of mostly modern Mercedes luxury coaches, all of which have an on board washroom and are air conditioned. We also work with selected third party coach operators who supplement our own fleet during peak periods. The facilities on third party coaches can vary, but the majority have air conditioning. We are members of the Confederation of Passenger Transport and the Coach Tourism Association – bodies established to encourage standards of excellence in our industry.
