Llandudno & Portmeirion

Resort - Llandudno

Overview

Situated on a sandy isthmus between the Great Orme and Little Orme Heads, Llandudno boasts two superb beaches. The shingly North Shore is the busier of the two with its Victorian Pier, boat trips, donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows and much more. The sandy West Shore is quieter with miles of sands and panoramic views of the Snowdonia mountain range in the distance. Llandudno is a highly attractive resort with its magnificent crescent of hotels, broad tree-lined streets and elegant shops all combining to produce a unique atmosphere. There are two golf courses. A tramway and cable car both offer a route to the summit of the Great Orme (which also boasts a superb dry ski slope - one of the best in Britain). There is plenty to do both by day and by night and you are sure never to have a dull moment at what many would claim to be the most complete of all British holiday resorts.

Day 1 - Outward Travel

Day 2 - Full day to Portmeirion & Porthmadog

  • The unique village of Portmeirion is set on its own peninsula on the southern shores of Snowdonia. Its dreamlike Italianate quality made it the setting for the famous TV series The Prisoner. There are lovely gardens and fascinating vistas at every turn. We return to the coast at Porthmadog, a harbour town with a long maritime history and arguably Britain’s narrow gauge railway capital with stations on both the Ffestiniog and the Welsh Highland Railways.

Day 3 - Day at Leisure

Day 4 - Caernarfon & Snowdonia National Park

  • We start the day with a visit to historic Caernarfon, dominated by its imposing Norman Castle where the redeveloped harbour bustles with sailing boats and motor yachts. We then venture into Snowdonia National Park making stops in beautiful Llanberis at the foot of Mount Snowdon and charming Betws-y-Coed.

Day 5 - Return Travel

Hydro Hotel

Situated on the Llandudno promenade, the hotel is just a short walk from the resorts shopping area, traditional pier, Happy Valley Botanical Gardens, cable car and Great Orme Tramway. This grand hotel features a magnificent sun lounge, with spectacular view over the bay, a impressive restaurant, games room and large entertainment room with dancefloor, where you will find entertainment most evenings. Many of the hotel’s rooms have fantastic views of the bay or over the town to the Welsh mountains. Our en-suite bedrooms come with comfy beds for a great nights sleep, tea and coffee making facilities, flat screen TV with Freeview and radio and hairdryer. Lift serving all floors and a car park.
