Galway & Cliffs of Moher

Resort - Ennis

Overview

The capital of County Clare is a picturesque and historic market town, taking it’s name from the Irish name for island. The town dates back to the 11th Century and was formed between two streams on the river Fergus. Ennis and County Clare are world famous as the home of traditional Irish music, with festivals and trad sessions held throughout the year. Clare is home to the mighty Shannon river, at 224 miles the longest river in Ireland. The county's charming villages, atmospheric pubs, traditional Irish music and laid-back locals are just a few of the reasons why visitors return again and again.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Outward Travel – Cairnryan to Belfast to Overnight in Northern Ireland

  • We depart and sail from Cairnryan to Belfast where we continue our journey and stay overnight in Northern Ireland.

Day 2 - Continue to Resort - via Athlone & Shannon Cruise to Ennis

  • We'll depart this morning and continue our journey calling at the county border town of Athlone and enjoying a cruise on the River Shannon before making our way to Ennis.

Day 3 - Full Day Cliffs of Moher & The Burren

  • A scenic spectacular awaits today as we enjoy a trip to the Cliffs of Moher. These toweriing, sheer cliff edges provide the most dramatic seascape views and we'll call at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre to learn more about the geology and history of this most impressive area. We'll then continue into the Burren - a remarkable, almost moon-like landscape where grey rocks are etched with crevices and cracks and breath-taking rock formations as we make our way to the Burren Visitor Centre.

Day 4 - Full Day Bunratty Castle & Folk Park and Adare

  • The pretty village of Adare is where we head today with free time to enjoy the tranquility and admire the beautiful thatched cottages, historic buildings and quaint shops. We then continue to Bunratty Castle & Folk Park. The most complete and authentic castle attraction in Ireland, the castle stands on a Viking trading camp that dates to 970 and the Folk Park features 30 buildings creating a 'living' village of life in rural Ireland - recreated and furnished to appear according to social standings.

Day 5 - Full Day Galway & Connemara Crystal

  • The brightly coloured buildings of Galway City never fail to impress. The ‘city of tribes’ is rich in medieval history and Galway has a thriving city centre with wonderful cobbled streets and plenty of traditional, welcoming pubs to enjoy. Later in the day we call at Connemara Crystal, one of the few remaining crystal factories in Ireland, where we can see the skilled craftsmen at work creating the traditional Claddagh, Shamrock and Celtic Knot designs that are known the world over.

Day 6 - En Route Belfast to Overnight stay in Northern Ireland

  • We depart today and make our way to the vibrant city of Belfast with free time to explore the capital of Northern Ireland before we make our way to our overnight hotel.
