A small hamlet in the Lake District, Newby Bridge sits at the southern tip of magnificent Lake Windermere. The Newby Bridge Hotel was originally a mansion home and was one of the first great houses to be built on the shores of Lake Windermere. The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway halts nearby and Windermere Cruises operate from nearby Lakeside opening up all of the spectacular scenery Windermere has to offer.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Outward Travel

Day 2 - Full Day Coniston & Ambleside

  • Lying in the shadow of the Old Man of Coniston, the village of Coniston is a delight to explore. Arthur Ransome, the author of Swallows & Amazons resided here and you can still track down the places described in his children's books. We also visit the bustling town of Ambleside situated at the head of Lake Windermere.

Day 3 - Half Day Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway

  • Affectionately known as La'al Ratty, the railway chugs through the spectacular landscapes of the western Lake District to reach remote Boot which is surrounded by stunning scenery and the Lakeland Fells.

Day 4 - Full Day Windermere Cruise, Bowness & Kendal

  • We sail from the southern shores of Windermere to bustling Bowness. Enjoy some free time here before we visit Kendal, home to the famous mint cake!

Day 5 - Return Travel

Newby Bridge Hotel

Overlooking the tranquil, southern tip of Lake Windermere and ideally situated for a break to the Lake District, the rooms here are beautifully furnished. The Garden View Restaurant offers delicious dining and the dark-panelled Huntsman’s Bar is the perfect spot in which to relax.

Reliable Coaches


Most of our holidays are operated by our own fleet of mostly modern Mercedes luxury coaches, all of which have an on board washroom and are air conditioned. We also work with selected third party coach operators who supplement our own fleet during peak periods. The facilities on third party coaches can vary, but the majority have air conditioning. We are members of the Confederation of Passenger Transport and the Coach Tourism Association – bodies established to encourage standards of excellence in our industry.
