Exmouth Coast & Gardens

Resort - Exmouth

Overview

Exmouth developed as a resort in Georgian times and was once probably the most select seaside resort in Britain, home to such famous people as Lady Nelson and Lady Byron. Nowadays it offers a rich mixture of immaculate sands, lovely gardens, a busy marina and a wide range of sports facilities that combine to make it an excellent resort for all ages and interests. To the South the resort overlooks Lyme Bay, while to the West it looks across the estuary of the River Exe to the Haldon Hills and Dawlish Warren. There are boat trips aplenty but also lots to do on dry land with good shops, a museum, many old pubs and good walks at every turn. For the more active there is a swimming pool, golf, and all forms of water sports including a sailing school.

  • Nestled on the spectacular Jurassic Coast, Sidmouth is a seaside town like no other. A town with timeless charm, it’s Regency history is evident in the architecture along the promenade. Beautiful gardens, leisurely walks and clean blue-flag beaches can be enjoyed. We continue to visit Bicton Park Gardens – an award-winning garden attraction featuring rare and beautiful species from around the world. Why not enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat in the Orangery which over looks the Italian Garden.

Day 4 - Day at Leisure

Day 5 - Teignmouth & Dawlish

  • A trip along the coast takes us to Georgian Teignmouth which is home to a fascinating old port and is set against the backdrop of the Dartmoor Hills. We also call at the traditional seaside town of Dawlish – famous for being the home of Black Swans which can be seen swimming in the waters of The Lawn and Brook.

Day 6 - Torquay & Brixham

  • Today we explore two of the English Riviera's most popular destinations - Torquay and Brixham. Life in charming Brixham has always centred around the historic harbour where fishing boats head out to sea for the catch of the day. The town's maritime heritage includes smuggling tales of pirates with a Pirate Festival taking over the town every year! We also visit Torquay - a classic resort at the heart of the Riviera. Palm-tree lined boulevards, elegant buildings and a vibrant harbour combine to make a superb visit.
