Overview

Exmouth developed as a resort in Georgian times and was once probably the most select seaside resort in Britain, home to such famous people as Lady Nelson and Lady Byron. Nowadays it offers a rich mixture of immaculate sands, lovely gardens, a busy marina and a wide range of sports facilities that combine to make it an excellent resort for all ages and interests. To the South the resort overlooks Lyme Bay, while to the West it looks across the estuary of the River Exe to the Haldon Hills and Dawlish Warren. There are boat trips aplenty but also lots to do on dry land with good shops, a museum, many old pubs and good walks at every turn. For the more active there is a swimming pool, golf, and all forms of water sports including a sailing school.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Outward Travel

Day 2 - Teignmouth & Dawlish

  • Fans of classic Georgian architecture will love Den Crescent and the Assembly Rooms, reminiscent of Bath.
  • At the resort end of town, the magnificent Victorian pier hosts many traditional seaside attractions.
  • As well as the sea beach with its pier, Teignmouth has a river beach leading to the harbour and close-knit old town.
  • A babbling brook cascades through the centre of quaint Dawlish with its tea rooms and gift shops.
  • Birdwatchers flock to Dawlish to spot coastal species such as shoveler and plover, as well as the Australian black swan.
  • The Dawlish Museum reveals the development of the town from fishing village to Victorian celebrity hangout.

Day 3 - Day at Leisure

  • Today is left free to allow for relaxing in the hotel or exploring the local area.
  • Don't hesitate to enquire with the hotel reception regarding local attractions and travel options.

Day 4 - Sidmouth & Seaton

  • Regular visitors to this select resort included Princess Victoria before she became Queen.
  • An interesting local museum (free entry) nestles amid the Regency architecture.
  • Connaught Gardens are famed for their year-round floral displays and clifftop views.
  • Famed for its historic tramway running alongside the River Axe, Seaton is a tranquil coastal town.
  • The spectacular cliffs of the Jurassic coast dominate the seascape.
  • Recently opened, the Jurassic Centre (entry fee applies) explores the history and geology of the coastline.

Day 5 - Return Travel

Important Information

Customers will be required to wear face coverings whilst travelling on our coaches and at the interchanges, unless they are unable to do so due to breathing difficulties or a disability. Customers unable to wear a face covering are advised to complete a special requirement form before travelling so the driver is aware. Our drivers and interchange teams will wear face coverings until all customers have boarded the coach and whilst handling luggage. All feeder vehicles will be required to operate in accordance with our Alfa Coaches Covid-secure procedures. Customers will be required to adhere to safety measures at interchange, which are likely to include restrictions on the capacity numbers in the services at any one time and socially distanced queues both inside and outside the Services. We will be utilising employees at the interchange as marshals, to make sure passengers are following the correct social distancing measures whilst providing extra reassurance and support. Random customer temperature checks by members of the team wearing appropriate PPE will be undertaken at the interchange. All excursions and venues featured within our holiday programmes will be risk assessed to ensure that we are still able to still deliver a memorable holiday experience operating in accordance with our own Covid-secure procedures. The availability of any attraction mentioned in the resort or excursion descriptions cannot be guaranteed.

Cavendish Hotel

This delightful hotel is wonderfully situated on the level seafront overlooking Exmouth's fine golden sands, a few minutes' walk from the shops. There is a large quiet lounge with sea views. The bar lounge has a dance floor and hosts entertainment most evenings.

Joining your Alfa Holiday is now even more convenient. If you want to join your tour coach en-route to your chosen resort we’ll pick you up on the way.

Park and Tour


For only £6 per day you can book parking at selected locations for the duration of your holiday. So if you prefer to drive, leave your car and join your coach en-route then why not enquire about our Park and Tour locations. For more information please call our reservations team.


European Holidays – Join Direct at Dover


If it is more convenient to drive to Dover to join your tour coach, there is FREE PARKING at Dover for the duration of your holiday. This service is available for all Continental Europe tours.


Reliable Coaches


Most of our holidays are operated by our own fleet of mostly modern Mercedes luxury coaches, all of which have an on board washroom and are air conditioned. We also work with selected third party coach operators who supplement our own fleet during peak periods. The facilities on third party coaches can vary, but the majority have air conditioning. We are members of the Confederation of Passenger Transport and the Coach Tourism Association – bodies established to encourage standards of excellence in our industry.
