Overview

Weston-super-Mare is Somerset's best known holiday resort. It is situated in a sheltered bay at the foot of the Mendip Hills with views across the Bristol Channel to South Wales. There are many charming Victorian and Edwardian terraces interspersed with colourful parks and gardens providing fascinating walks; from the delightful rocky point at Anchor Head to the sandy beaches at the southern end of the resort. Weston offers a great many attractions including the Grand Pier – described as “the ultimate 21st Century indoor theme park”! It also boasts the Sea Life centre, a helicopter museum and a big wheel which offers breathtaking views. The sheltered bay is ideal for a quiet walk and there is a choice of several boat trips. Other superb activities include ten pin bowling, golf and bowls. At night there are numerous attractions including top class cabaret at the Playhouse and dancing at the famous Winter Gardens.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Outward Travel

Day 2 - Bristol Half Day

  • As an ancient seafaring port, Bristol is built around its docks, with their historic ships and aquarium (entry fees apply to attractions).
  • Bristol is home to many museums including the Bristol Museum and Gallery (free entry) with its ever changing exhibitions.
  • The city's former Corn Exchange building houses a market hall and a variety of independent shops selling local goods and produce.

Day 3 - Wells Half Day

  • Situated in Somerset, this medieval city is the smallest in England. Vicars Close is claimed to be Europe's most complete medieval street, with houses dating from 1348.
  • The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew, commonly known as Wells Cathedral, is set in the middle of the city and was erected between the 12th and 15th centuries.
  • Bishop's Palace, and it's accompanying Bishop's House, is still home to the Bishop of Bath and Wells and is situated adjacent to the Cathedral. (Entrance fees apply)

Day 4 - Return Travel

Clients are permitted to remain on the coach only when the driver is present. Excursion days may be altered to suit circumstances which arise or to take advantage of forecast changes in the weather, local events or drivers’ hours regulations. If it is important you visit somewhere on a specific day, please check in advance with your driver. Anchor Head Hotel

Splendidly situated between Weston's two piers and close to the boating slipway and a small beach; the promenade walk begins right next to the hotel. Attractive TV lounge and delightful bar with dance floor. There are magnificent views of the bay from the TV lounge, restaurants and many of the bedrooms.

European Holidays – Join Direct at Dover


If it is more convenient to drive to Dover to join your tour coach, there is FREE PARKING at Dover for the duration of your holiday. This service is available for all Continental Europe tours.


Reliable Coaches


Most of our holidays are operated by our own fleet of mostly modern Mercedes luxury coaches, all of which have an on board washroom and are air conditioned. We also work with selected third party coach operators who supplement our own fleet during peak periods. The facilities on third party coaches can vary, but the majority have air conditioning. We are members of the Confederation of Passenger Transport and the Coach Tourism Association – bodies established to encourage standards of excellence in our industry.
