Day 2 - Hadrian's Wall - Chesters Roman Fort & Hexham

  • Hadrian’s Wall, the northern-most frontier of the Roman Empire stretches 73 miles from coast to coast and snakes through some of the most beautiful countryside England has to offer. We enjoy a scenic trip following the route of the wall, calling at Chesters Roman Fort – the most complete Roman cavalry fort in Britain where you can see what life was like along this remote outpost of the Roman Empire. We will also visit the pleasant town of Hexham with its stunning architecture, picturesque parks and fascinating history from the Vikings to historical ‘Border Reivers’.

Day 3 - Whitley Bay & Newcastle

  • From the city to the seaside as we visit Whitley Bay. A seaside town with an award-winning beach, traditional amusements and the beautiful St Mary's Lighthouse we'll have some free time to explore before returning to Newcastle. Back in the city, explore at leisure with free time to discover everything this most vibrant city has to offer. Admire the iconic Tyne Bridge from the riverside, hit the shops or maybe take a trip to the castle - the choice is yours!

Day 4 - Holy Island & Bamburgh

  • A poignant day out today takes us along the stunning Northumberland Coast and across to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Only accessible when tides are low, the island is home to charming cafes, an ancient priory and castle perched on the coastline. An important centre of Celtic Christianity, Saint Aiden came from the tiny isle of Iona on Scotland’s West Coast and chose to found his monastery on the island of Lindisfarne. We will also make time to stop in the coastal town of Bamburgh with its pristine beaches and magnificent views of imposing Bamburgh Castle.
