One of the original New Towns, Harlow is a vibrant community with many attractions. Built after World War II to ease overcrowding in London, the town was designed by world renowned architect Sir Frederick Gibberd and was the site of the first pedestrian precinct in Britain. The town also offers excellent shopping facilities, with a thriving centre, a permanent market place and a major indoor shopping centre, the Harvey Centre, which accommodates over 100 individual stores, shopping units and kiosks.
