In a spectacular setting overlooking the bay, Bantry House is one of the finest historic houses in Ireland. The house contains an eclectic collection of paintings, tapestries, furniture and artefacts collected from around the world and is set in beautiful terraced gardens.

The museum houses a collection of local history which has been gathered by the local historical society. Amongst the exhibits are furniture, kitchen utensils and other items from domestic life. There are also several interesting articles depicting the life of the Irish patriot Wolf Tone.

Lying in the sheltered harbour of Glengarriff just off the coast of Bantry Bay and accessed via ferry which leaves every half hour from Glengarrif Pier, the island is renowned for its beautifully laid out gardens which contain stunning specimen plants which are rare in this climate.
