Forte dei Marmi
is an attractive little seaside resort a short distance from Marina di Pietrasanta with an 18th century fort (after which the resort is named) and a popular Wednesday morning market.
crowns the top of a rocky hill in nearby Massa. Dating from around the 12th century, the castle was the seat of the Marquises of Massa. It was recently restored and opened to the public.
Museo dei Bozzetti
The Museum of Machetes is located in an old convent in Pietrasanta. It exhibits models and moulds of sculptures, mainly in chalk, created by artists who work, or have previously worked in the marble workshops and foundries in Versilia.
situated just outside Pietrasanta, is worth a visit to see the house where the poet Giosuè Carducci was born in 1835.
