William's Twin Peak Challenge

View from Ben NevisWilliam Honeyball, the manager of our Leisureplex Selborne Hotel recently completed the Twin Peaks Challenge, climbing the summits of Ben Nevis and Mount Snowdon in the same week.

William took on the Twin Peaks as a personal challenge and to raise money to support the charity Alzheimer's Research UK.

Below are some photos from William's journey up to the top of Ben Nevis and Mount Snowdon.

Ben Nevis Plateau

This photo was taken at the foot of the summit plateau of Ben Nevis… William was just half an hour from the top at this point. Unfortunately, as you can see, visibility was very poor!

Here is William at the trig point up Ben Nevis which is the highest point in the UK. It was very cold at this point due to the weather and altitude.

It took William 4 hours to climb up the peak of Ben Nevis and 3 and a half hours back down.

The weather really wasn't on William's side… he had to climb back down in torrential rain for the last hour and a half!

Stone marking sheer drop on Mount Snowdon

As you can see from the photo on the left, Snowdon proved to be better on the weather front for William.

The stone in this photo marks a sheer drop… William didn't want to get too close, especially as he doesn't like heights!

This was the view towards the summit of Mount Snowdon, as you can see there is a sheer drop down either side of the narrow path making it a challenging final climb to the top.

Mount Snowdon Summit

This photo is at the summit of Snowdon; William is the one with the black t-shirt and sunglasses on.

William was looking forward to getting the train back down but unfortunately he hadn't booked any tickets and it was full so he had to walk down to the bottom instead. It took 3 hours to walk to the summit of Mount Snowdon and 2 and a half back down.

Well done to William for finishing the Twin Peaks Challenge, on completion William quoted:

"The Twin Peaks 'feel my pain' Challenge is aptly named. Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me with all the donations to Alzheimer's Research UK to date, it is very much appreciated."

If you would like to congratulate William on completing this great challenge then there is still time to sponsor him. Click here for more info and to donate:
