Coach Holidays to Harlow – One of the original New Towns, Harlow is a vibrant community with many attractions. Built after World War II to ease overcrowding in London, the town was designed by world renowned architect Sir Frederick Gibberd and was the site of the first pedestrian precinct in Britain. The town also offers excellent shopping facilities, with a thriving centre, a permanent market place and a major indoor shopping centre, the Harvey Centre, which accommodates over 100 individual stores, shopping units and kiosks.
There are around 200 listed buildings in Harlow, including the country’s first residential tower block, The Lawn, built in 1951 and now a Grade II listed building. Other buildings of historic importance include the railway station, the Museum of Harlow and Moot House.
Harlow is a great base from which to explore the university cities of Oxford, the ‘City of Spires’ and Cambridge, situated beside the picturesque River Cam. The delightful town of St Albans, with its Roman remains and splendid abbey, is also close by.
