Bridge of Allan is one of Stirling’s hidden gems, a charming little village by the Allan Water. It is home to Stirling University and is overlooked by the National Wallace Monument, a towering tribute to Scotland’s Sir William Wallace, who was a central early figure in the wars to secure Scottish freedom.
The village, within sight of Stirling’s cliff top castle, boasts fine Victorian buildings and unique shops and has a long standing reputation as a popular holiday destination with much to offer visitors. It is also a superb base from which to explore two of Scotland’s largest and most exciting cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
We use the Royal Hotel, situated just 3½ miles from Stirling.
