Coach Holidays to Patterdale – Patterdale is a picturesque village which lies at the head of Ullswater in the Lake District. The shoreline of the lake curves around green fields, woodlands and sheer rock faces.
The village itself nestles against the majestic mountain of Helvellyn and looks across Ullswater’s mirrored surface. Close by are sailing, sail boarding and fishing facilities as well as peaceful lake cruising boats, quaint shops and friendly pubs. There are countless paths and trails, from very gentle lakeside walks to more challenging hillside hikes.
Patterdale lies in the heart of the Lake District and is perfectly situated to explore the surrounding villages and country houses, as well as the vibrant towns of Keswick and Penrith with their wonderful cafés, restaurants, shops, galleries and theatres.
We use the Patterdale Hotel, situated in the heart of the village at the foot of Helvellyn. It is a short gentle walk from Ullswater in one direction and somewhat steeper walk from Brotherswater in the opposite direction.
Walkers are spoiled for choice around Ullswater; there are literally hundreds of footpaths, tracks and quiet lanes to suit all levels of enthusiasm and ability. Of the nearby mountains, Helvellyn is the highest and Striding Edge is the most popular and scenic route to the top.
