This fascinating tour is based in the beautiful Harz Mountains, an area of gently rolling hills clad in pine forests and full of fairy tale myths. Scattered amongst the hills are numerous romantic medieval villages including Unesco World Heritage sites such as Quedlinburg and Goslar.
Our base is the health and winter sports resort of Braunlage which lies in the upper Harz Mountains at a height of over 2000 feet. In addition to visiting the villages of the Harz, we include a visit to one of Europe’s greatest cities, Berlin with its famous Brandenburg Gate – so often the pivot of Europe’s destiny in the past three centuries since Frederick I made it his capital.
We use the Maritim Berghotel, which lies in a tranquil spot at the foot of the Wurnberg on the edge of the Harz National Park.
