Coach Holidays to Nottingham – Nottingham is an exciting city, set deep in the heart of ‘Robin Hood Country’ and reminders of the famous outlaw’s presence are all around. Nottingham Castle, first built in 1068 and later replaced by a 17th century mansion house, was the legendary home of the Sheriff of Nottingham, Robin Hood’s mortal enemy and several local roads bear his associates’ names, such as ‘Maid Marian Way’ and ‘Friar Lane’.
Sherwood Forest Country Park contains many ancient oak trees, including the 800 year old ‘Great Oak’, which was believed to be Robin’s secret hiding place. Other attractions in the city include the Lace Market, an area which reflects the city’s long association with lace-making, cave dwellings and England’s oldest public house ‘Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem’.
The surrounding area harbours a wealth of interest, from the woodlands and parkland that inspired D H Lawrence and Lord Byron to stately homes, country houses and historic towns and villages which make this area a delight to explore.
We use the Jurys Inn, which is situated approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the city centre,
