Coach Holidays to Bath – Bath stands majestically on the banks of the River Avon and is steeped in ancient history. The town’s outstanding architecture fully justifies its epithet as the ‘Elegant City of Golden Stone‘. Bath is a designated World Heritage Site, boasting Roman ruins and baths (including the 70ft long Great Bath) and magnificent Georgian architecture.
The town’s secrets and unique heritage can be explored in a huge variety of museums, galleries, gardens and attractions including the famous Royal Crescent, Theatre Royal and the elegant Pulteney Bridge. Bath is famous for its literary associations and was home to both the playwright Sheridan and Jane Austen, who set many scenes in her books here. It is also renowned for its festivals, including an international celebration of music and the biggest fringe festival in the country.
As a base for visiting this area we use the Limpley Stoke Hotel, situated in a delightful village on the outskirts of Bath.
The Lansdown Crescent offers excellent views of the city, whilst Widcombe is a myriad of small streets and beautiful houses. The city boasts an exciting mix of theatres, excellent and varied restaurants and quality shopping from high street retailers to fascinating antique sellers and stalls. For a unique shopping experience head to the Pulteney Bridge area, one of only three bridges in the world with shops built into the original 18th century design. To get away from the crowds enjoy a stroll in Sydney Gardens, Bath’s oldest park or the Botanic Gardens, one of the most delightful features of Royal Victoria Park.
